Last president of the Third Republic, Albert Lebrun was elected in 1932 and re-elected in 1939. He witnessed, powerless, the defeat of 1940.
On 10 July 1940, the vote of full powers to Philippe Pétain effectively ended his presidency. He died in 1950.
