Dagobert III
King of the Franks · 711-715 · born in 698, died in 715
Son of Childebert III, Dagobert III became king of the Franks in 711, still a child. The mayor of the palace Pépin of Herstal, dominant figure of the kingdom, died in 714; his succession, marked by the intervention of his grandson Theudoald and then the rise of Charles Martel, plunged the kingdom into troubled times.
He died in 715, very young, as Charles Martel was progressively imposing himself in the struggle for power.
