Napoléon II

Emperor of the French · 1815 · born on 20 March 1811, died on 22 July 1832

Son of Napoleon I and Marie-Louise of Austria, Napoleon II received the title of King of Rome at his birth in 1811. After his father’s abdication in 1815, he was proclaimed emperor by the deputies, but never actually reigned.

Taken to Vienna, he lived there under the title of Duke of Reichstadt. Nicknamed the Eaglet, he died in 1832, at twenty-one.
