Thierry Ier
King of the Franks · 511-534 · born in 485, died in 534
Eldest son of Clovis, born of an earlier union with a Frankish princess before his father’s marriage to Clotilde, Theuderic had already fought alongside his father at Vouillé (507). When Clovis died (511), he received the eastern part of the kingdom, which prefigured the future Austrasia, with Reims as his capital.
He extended his lands southwards and took part, with his brothers, in the campaign against the Thuringians (531). Father of King Theudebert I, he died in 534.
