Jules Grévy

A moderate republican, Jules Grévy became President of the Republic in 1879, succeeding Mac Mahon. He refused constitutional revision and deferred to Parliament.
The decorations scandal, involving his son-in-law Daniel Wilson, forced him to resign in 1887.
